The Julia Rausing Trust has made a significant contribution of £9.27 million to support the King’s Highgrove project, an initiative focused on nature-led wellbeing. The donation will fund a new centre located at Highgrove, the Gloucestershire residence of King Charles. Among the features planned for the project is a maze, which is scheduled to open next spring.

The trust was established by Julia Rausing and her husband, Sir Hans Rausing, a billionaire businessman. Julia Rausing passed away two years ago at the age of 63 after battling cancer. The couple were noted for their philanthropy, having contributed more than £400 million to various UK charities over the years. The Julia Rausing Trust now aims to donate around £100 million annually to charitable causes.

King Charles, who has maintained an extensive schedule of official duties even while undergoing treatment for the same illness, continues to support the Highgrove initiative. The project is intended to promote wellbeing through engagement with nature, reflecting the King’s longstanding commitment to environmental and health-related efforts.
