Just Eat Takeaway.com has reported a return to order growth for the first time in nearly five years, signaling early success in its turnaround efforts under new ownership. In September, worldwide orders on the food delivery platform increased by 0.1% compared to the same month the previous year, reversing a 9% decline recorded when Prosus acquired the company in December 2025.
Prosus, a global technology investor majority-owned by South Africa’s Naspers, completed the acquisition of Just Eat Takeaway.com for £3.6 billion late last year. The firm, which also controls Brazilian food delivery service iFood and Dutch online marketplace OLX, has emphasized further expansion and innovation driven by artificial intelligence.
Fabricio Bloisi, Prosus’s chief executive, described the modest growth as a positive initial milestone for the company’s ongoing strategy. “Obviously, this is just the first step and we expect to keep expanding growth,” Bloisi said, highlighting the group’s commitment to leveraging AI technologies to strengthen market position and improve operational efficiencies.
The renewed growth follows years of declining orders at Just Eat Takeaway.com, a period marked by intense competition and shifting consumer behaviors in the food delivery sector. Prosus’s investment represents a strategic push to revitalize the platform and capitalize on evolving market dynamics.
As the firm works to build on this initial momentum, investors and industry observers will be watching closely to see whether the integration of advanced technology and new management can sustain longer-term growth in the highly competitive online food delivery market.
