Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has announced the accreditation of the first group of Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), marking a significant step in the country’s efforts to enhance energy efficiency services. The announcement, made on September 26, highlights Kahramaa’s intent to improve the quality and reliability of energy consumption audits and efficiency services across buildings and facilities.
The initial batch of accredited companies includes Conserve Green Building and MEP Solutions, Siemens, Mannai Energy, and Alliance Technologies. These firms have met Kahramaa’s established technical standards and requirements, positioning them as qualified providers capable of delivering specialised energy efficiency solutions. The accreditation process is managed by Kahramaa’s Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department, which also plays a key role in developing the sector and elevating service standards.
This initiative aligns with several national strategic frameworks, including Qatar National Vision 2030, the Third National Development Strategy (QNDS3), and the National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency known as “Tarsheed.” Through these programs, Qatar aims to boost resource efficiency, reduce energy and water consumption, and advance environmental sustainability.
By establishing a vetted list of ESCOs, Kahramaa seeks to foster confidence in energy efficiency projects among both public and private sector entities. Accredited companies are expected to provide technical studies and recommendations that can identify opportunities to lower electricity and water use, improve operational efficiency, and minimise wastage. This, in turn, supports Qatar’s broader sustainability goals and its efforts to conserve natural resources.
