Harry Kane scored his first goal of the season to lead Bayern Munich to a 2-1 victory over newly promoted Elversberg in a Bundesliga match played on Sunday. With Bayern’s regular captain Manuel Neuer rested, Kane wore the captain's armband and found the net with 18 minutes remaining to break a 1-1 deadlock and secure the win for the defending champions.

Bayern initially took the lead through teenager Lennart Karl, a German winger who put the home side ahead. However, Elversberg responded shortly after the hour mark when Maurice Krattenmacher scored a remarkable curling goal to level the score. Kane’s late strike ultimately proved decisive.

Kane, who netted 36 league goals during the previous campaign, had not scored in his first two matches this season. After the game, he told DAZN that sometimes goals take longer to come than expected, adding that it was satisfying to get on the scoresheet and earn the three points. He also noted that Bayern have not yet reached their full potential but emphasized that it remains early in the season.

This loss marked Elversberg’s first defeat in their debut Bundesliga season, following two successive wins at the start of their campaign. The club represents the smallest town ever to compete in the German top flight, hailing from a community of just 13,000 people.

Elsewhere on Sunday, RB Leipzig rebounded from their recent Champions League loss at Como by thrashing Hamburg 5-0 at home. The comprehensive victory came against a struggling Hamburg side and provided Leipzig with a much-needed boost after their continental setback.
