Bayern Munich is close to finalizing a contract extension for England captain Harry Kane, who has been instrumental in the club’s recent successes, including consecutive Bundesliga titles. Kane scored his 100th Bundesliga goal in September, achieving the milestone in his 98th league appearance and surpassing a record that had stood since 1977. As Kane emerges as the favorite to win the Ballon d’Or, Bayern aims to complete the extension before the award ceremony scheduled for October 26.
Max Eberl, Bayern’s director of sport, confirmed that discussions are progressing positively, though no official announcement has been made yet. The club opted not to acquire a new striker during the summer transfer window, expressing confidence in securing Kane’s future despite his current contract expiring at the end of the season. Without an extension, Kane would be poised to leave on a free transfer.
Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho has received an opportunity to revive his career with Spanish side Getafe. The 26-year-old winger has been a free agent since his pre-contract agreement with Manchester United expired over the summer. Sancho spent the previous season on loan at Aston Villa, where he participated as a substitute in their Europa League final win against Freiburg in May, but he has not featured in competitive matches since then.
Getafe, currently 14th in La Liga and narrowly above the relegation zone, has presented Sancho with a contract offer. The player is considering the proposal as he continues training independently to maintain fitness. Sancho has attracted interest from various clubs since leaving United, including his former team Borussia Dortmund, where he had a breakthrough season in 2018-19 and briefly returned on loan earlier this year. However, Dortmund opted against re-signing him.
Villarreal is another Spanish club reportedly linked with Sancho, who remains eligible to sign with new teams despite the closure of the September transfer window due to his free-agent status. The coming weeks will be critical for Sancho’s next career move as he evaluates his options.
