Kantipur Television will serve as the official broadcaster for the second edition of Nepal’s Indoor Super League (ISL), the country’s first franchise-based indoor cricket tournament, slated to take place from September 7 to 13. The live telecast arrangement follows a memorandum of understanding signed on Monday between the tournament’s organizer, Kathmandu Sports Events Pvt Ltd, and the Kantipur Media Group.
The agreement, signed at a formal ceremony by Jyoti Bhandari, managing director of Kathmandu Sports Events Pvt Ltd, and Sagar KC, business head of Kantipur Media Group, aims to enhance the league’s scale, management, and overall quality to meet international standards. ISL Technical Director Rabindra Gupta and Kantipur Media Group Marketing Manager Anupam Adhikari were also present during the signing.
Bhandari emphasized the organizers’ intention to elevate the ISL beyond domestic recognition, stating that the upcoming edition is expected to surpass the inaugural tournament in terms of sport, entertainment, and administration. The league will feature 10 franchise teams, including Kathmandu Kailash Kings, Sudurpaschim Tigers, Pokhara Warriors, Maya Hetauda Royals, Mixmandu, Butwal Empire, Lalitpur All Stars, Lumbini Yorkers, Janakpur Kings, and Biratnagar Battalion.
To increase the event’s appeal, American host, singer, and songwriter Sheis Floyd will travel to Nepal to anchor the tournament. Floyd, who gained popularity among Nepali audiences during the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held in Dallas, Texas, was confirmed as the event’s host.
The player auction has been completed, and national women’s volleyball team spiker Usha Bhandari has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the league. The tournament’s original start date of September 2 was postponed by a week due to technical reasons.
The partnership between Kathmandu Sports Events Pvt Ltd and Kantipur Media Group marks a significant step in Nepal’s efforts to raise the profile of indoor cricket and expand its viewership through enhanced media coverage.
