Katara Cultural Village, in collaboration with the Vietnamese embassy in Qatar, recently hosted a screening of the documentary "Ho Chi Minh’s Diplomacy" at the Drama Theatre. The event was attended by Vietnam’s ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, alongside several ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Qatar, media representatives, and cultural enthusiasts.

The screening formed part of ongoing cultural cooperation efforts between Katara and the Vietnamese embassy, aimed at promoting cultural exchange and exposing audiences to the historical and civilisational experiences of different nations. In his remarks, Ambassador Nguyen praised the strong and growing relations between Qatar and Vietnam, emphasizing their collaboration across multiple sectors.

Nguyen highlighted the significance of cultural initiatives in enhancing friendship and fostering closer ties between the peoples of both countries. He expressed gratitude to Katara for its continued support of cultural programming and its commitment to encouraging intercultural dialogue and openness to global cultures. The ambassador also acknowledged Katara’s role as a platform that embraces diversity and facilitates knowledge sharing and mutual understanding among various communities.

The ambassador described Ho Chi Minh as more than a national leader dedicated to Vietnam’s independence, freedom, and reunification. He underscored Ho Chi Minh’s foundational contributions to Vietnam’s foreign policy, noting the unique blend of principle and humanity that characterized his diplomatic approach. According to Nguyen, Ho Chi Minh emphasized peace, sovereignty, equality, and mutual benefit, striving to position Vietnam as a friend to all countries while avoiding hostility.

Nguyen further remarked on Ho Chi Minh’s personal diplomacy style, which was marked by sincerity, simplicity, openness, thoughtfulness, and respect. He valued friendship among nations and sought mutual understanding, even with countries that had been adversaries during conflicts involving Vietnam. Despite the wars fought for independence and reunification, Ho Chi Minh consistently portrayed the Vietnamese people as peace-loving, framing their struggle as part of a broader quest for peace and progressive human values.

The documentary traced key moments in Ho Chi Minh’s life and leadership, illustrating his diplomatic vision amid Vietnam’s political transformations throughout the 20th century, which ultimately contributed to the country’s reconstruction and development. Ambassador Nguyen expressed pleasure in sharing the film with the Qatari audience, emphasizing that Ho Chi Minh’s story transcends Vietnamese history. It embodies themes of peace, independence, international friendship, and the power of dialogue—values that remain relevant in today’s global context.

Through events like this documentary screening, Katara aims to deepen collaboration with diplomatic missions based in Qatar, using arts and film to foster cross-cultural understanding and build bridges among diverse peoples.
