Great Britain has announced its squad for the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup, set to take place in Shenzhen, China, from September 22 to 27. The team will feature Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart, Mika Stojsavljevic, and Jodie Burrage. Notably absent are Emma Raducanu, who withdrew prior to Wimbledon due to a leg stress fracture, and Sonay Kartal, who is also sidelined with injury.
British No.3 Fran Jones was not selected, as team captain Anne Keothavong opted to retain three of the four players who secured an upset victory over Australia in the qualification round. Boulter, currently ranked 69th in the world, replaces Katie Swan in the squad. There remains the possibility of adding a fifth player closer to the event.
Great Britain is set to face Czechia in the quarter-finals, a team led by Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova. The tournament field also includes Belgium, China, reigning champions Italy, Kazakhstan, Spain, which boasts five previous titles, and Ukraine. The competition promises to be highly competitive as teams vie for the prestigious international crown.
