British No. 1 tennis player Katie Boulter has confirmed she will not wear her wedding ring while competing, following the example set by fellow professional Andy Murray. Boulter, ranked 30th in the world, also stated she has no plans to change her professional name despite recently marrying Australian fellow tennis player Alex de Minaur.

The couple exchanged vows in Tuscany in July, scheduling the ceremony between Wimbledon and the upcoming US Open. Boulter is set to face American Carol Young Suh Lee in the opening round of the US Open.

Speaking about her decision to retain her maiden name on the circuit, Boulter said she prefers to continue competing under her established identity. Regarding her wedding ring, she explained that wearing it during matches is not feasible, citing advice from Murray.

Reflecting on the wedding, Boulter described it as a memorable and emotional occasion. She noted the significance of gathering family and friends in one place for what she called a “once in a lifetime” event. She also remarked on the decorum of attendees, stating that everyone behaved respectfully throughout the celebrations.
