Irish boxer Katie Taylor has announced she will extend her professional career to stage a final bout at Dublin’s Croke Park on September 5. The 40-year-old light-welterweight champion had planned to retire following her victory over Amanda Serrano in New York last July, but the opportunity to headline a major event at the iconic stadium persuaded her to continue.

Taylor, who holds the IBF, WBO, and WBA titles, will challenge French contender Flora Pili, 29, for the vacant WBC belt. A win would make her the undisputed world champion for the third time. Croke Park, with a capacity of 82,300, is set to provide a significant stage for her farewell fight.

Reflecting on her career, Taylor expressed that after reaching the pinnacle of the sport by conquering Madison Square Garden, she had thought there was little left to achieve.
