The Dolphins are set to be without key halfback Isaiya Katoa for at least the next month after he suffered a fractured wrist during their recent match. The injury occurred early in the game on Saturday at Suncorp Stadium, where Redcliffe secured their eighth consecutive victory by defeating the Dolphins 26-24.
Katoa left the field in the 13th minute after appearing to dislocate his wrist while coming out of a tackle. Although initial assessments indicated a dislocation, scans conducted the following day revealed a fracture, prompting plans for surgery scheduled for Monday.
Team officials have indicated that Katoa’s recovery period is expected to be around four weeks. However, the timeline could be extended if the surgical procedure proves to be more complex than initially anticipated. Despite the setback, the prognosis does not suggest a long-term absence for the young star.
The Dolphins will now need to adjust their lineup as they prepare for upcoming fixtures without one of their key playmakers.
