Kelington Group Bhd has entered into a partnership with Tata Electronics to support the development of a new semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, India, valued at approximately US$11 billion. The collaboration aims to facilitate the delivery of essential infrastructure and systems necessary for semiconductor manufacturing at the site.

According to Kelington, the partnership is intended to expedite the operational readiness of the fabrication plant for silicon wafer production, a crucial component in semiconductor manufacturing. Both companies also plan to work together on cultivating local talent and enhancing advanced design and engineering capabilities within India’s growing semiconductor sector.

Lim Seng Chuan, chief executive officer of Kelington Group, emphasized that the partnership is structured to meet the demanding standards required for semiconductor production. At the same time, Tata Electronics chief executive officer and managing director Randhir Thakur highlighted the importance of the tool hook-up process, describing it as a vital step to ensure the integration of complex equipment and to establish a reliable and efficient fabrication facility.

The collaboration reflects broader efforts in India to expand its semiconductor manufacturing capacity and build a skilled workforce to support this high-technology industry.
