Kuwait Finance House (KFH) has issued a cautionary advisory to its customers about a rising wave of fraudulent online links that pose significant risks to personal and financial data. The warning comes as part of KFH’s active participation in the Diraya campaign, a collaborative initiative with the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and the Kuwait Banking Association (KBA) aimed at enhancing banking awareness and cybersecurity among customers.

According to a statement released by KFH on July 21, fraudsters are increasingly employing deceptive messages containing suspicious links designed to lure recipients into clicking them. These links may direct users to malicious websites or fraudulent surveys that, once accessed, can lead to hacking of the victim’s device. The resultant breach can enable cybercriminals to extract sensitive personal information, which could be exploited for unauthorized financial transactions or identity theft.

KFH emphasized the importance of vigilance, advising customers against sharing personal or banking information in response to unsolicited emails, text messages, or phone calls. Such communications, the bank noted, are often phishing attempts intended to capture confidential login details or banking credentials.

The bank highlighted key preventive measures for its customers, including refraining from storing sensitive data such as card numbers or passwords on mobile devices, never disclosing one-time passwords (OTPs) to anyone, and ensuring that users log out from banking apps or websites immediately after completing transactions.

This advisory underscores ongoing challenges facing the banking sector in Kuwait and globally, as digital banking services expand and cyber threats become more sophisticated. KFH’s involvement in the Diraya campaign reflects a broader effort within Kuwait’s financial institutions to bolster consumer protection and promote safe banking practices amid evolving cybersecurity risks.
