Khaleej Times was honoured for its journalistic excellence at the 11th Emirati Media Forum, held on June 22 in Dubai. The award was presented by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, in recognition of the publication’s role in fostering national unity and raising public awareness during recent regional crises.

The forum, organised by the Dubai Press Club under the theme “The UAE is a Red Line,” gathered over 100 national media organisations, leaders, and content creators to discuss the evolving responsibilities of the media sector amid rapid technological and societal changes. Ted Kemp, Chief Content Officer of Khaleej Times, accepted the honour on behalf of the newspaper.

Sheikh Ahmed praised the professionalism demonstrated by UAE media outlets throughout exceptional circumstances, emphasising their contribution to reinforcing values of commitment, responsibility, and unity. “We thank the UAE media for demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism in exceptional circumstances,” he said during the forum’s opening remarks.

Established in 1978, Khaleej Times is the UAE’s first English-language daily and has continually adapted to the changing needs of its readership. The publication has accelerated its digital transformation efforts and broadened its reach throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions. This recognition underscores Khaleej Times’ dedication to delivering accurate, timely, and objective news.

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, vice-chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the Dubai Press Club, highlighted the media’s vital role in the UAE’s national development and international engagement. She noted that the award sends a clear message about the ongoing importance of media in upholding the foundational values of the UAE’s success.

The forum featured discussions on countering misinformation and misleading narratives, with a focus on how media organisations can harness artificial intelligence and digital technologies to navigate industry disruptions. Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club, stressed the importance of trust-building, accuracy, and professionalism in shaping a constructive public discourse during times of change.

For Khaleej Times, the accolade reaffirms its commitment to remaining a trusted news source and continuing its legacy of reflecting the UAE’s resilience, progress, and unity.
