A 9-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to his leg in Brooklyn on Thursday evening, according to law enforcement officials and sources familiar with the investigation. The incident, which police are investigating as a potentially gang-related shooting, occurred just before 6 p.m. near 391 Bristol Street in the Brownsville neighborhood.

Authorities indicated the child was not the intended target and was struck by a stray bullet amidst suspected crossfire. Following the shooting, the boy was transported to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
