Taylor Parker, a Texas inmate sentenced to death for the 2020 murder of Reagan Simmons-Hancock, made a series of phone calls from jail in which she minimized the gravity of her crime and complained about her conditions and treatment. The conversations, which took place between 2021 and 2022, were obtained by a media outlet.

During the calls, Parker spoke with her mother, Shona Prior, expressing frustration over her jail cell environment, restrictions on wearing makeup during court appearances, and limited contact with her children. She suggested that authorities were eager to find new charges against her, remarking that they would accuse her of any minor infraction if given the chance.

Parker, now 33, was convicted for the stabbing death of Simmons-Hancock, who was reportedly pregnant at the time. According to court records, Parker inflicted approximately 100 stab wounds on the victim and subsequently removed the unborn child from the womb. Prior to the murder, Parker is said to have faked her own pregnancy for several months.

The case drew significant attention due to the brutality of the attack and the act of forcibly taking the unborn child, which authorities and prosecutors described as especially gruesome. Parker currently remains on death row in Texas.
