Kilmarnock Football Club is facing a goalkeeper shortage as Max Stryjek is set to be sidelined for an extended period due to a knee injury, and a transfer intended to bolster the position has fallen through. Manager Neil McCann confirmed that Stryjek, who had returned late last season after recovering from heart surgery, will be out for “quite a considerable bit of time.” The Polish goalkeeper missed the recent Scottish Premiership match against Hearts ahead of the international break.

To address concerns in the goalkeeping department, which currently includes Calum Ferri, Kilmarnock sought to sign 32-year-old Dave Richards, who previously played for Dundee United and recently left Kidderminster. However, the proposed move was halted by an administrative issue.

Following McCann’s comments prior to Kilmarnock’s upcoming away match against Rangers, the club officially announced that Richards’ transfer could not be completed. The English Football Association declined to approve the registration due to an unspecified administrative error related to Richards’ previous registration status. As a result, Kilmarnock was unable to finalize the move.

In a club statement, Kilmarnock expressed regret over the failed transfer, acknowledging Richards’ professionalism throughout the process and extending best wishes for his future. This setback leaves the club managing its goalkeeping resources in a challenging situation as they head into a crucial phase of the Premiership season.
