Daniel Kinahan, a prominent figure alleged to be a leader of a criminal organization involved in the Kinahan-Hutch feud, is expected to be returned to Ireland in the coming days following the failure of his final appeal against extradition. The 49-year-old is wanted on charges connected to the violent feud that ignited in 2016, notably after a high-profile murder at Dublin’s Regency Hotel.

Kinahan has pursued all possible legal measures to prevent his transfer from Dubai to Ireland, where the Special Criminal Court is prepared to charge him with directing a criminal organization. A designated cell block in Portlaoise Prison has already been cleared in anticipation of his arrival.

A senior law enforcement official remarked that although Kinahan made numerous attempts to halt the extradition, these efforts were ultimately unsuccessful. “It was always a shot to nothing but he kept at it,” the source said. “That’s officially over and now it’s just a case of when. The security plan for his arrival has already been done, subject to changes on the day.”

Irish police, known as An Garda Síochána, have been compiling a comprehensive criminal dossier on Kinahan over several years. Both Kinahan and his father, Christy Kinahan Sr., have resided in the United Arab Emirates since 2016, having earlier lived on Spain’s Costa del Sol.

Reports indicate that Kinahan was reportedly “in total shock” when he was arrested by Dubai authorities, as he had invested significant resources in cultivating local connections. This led him to believe he would receive advance warning of any impending law enforcement action, making his detention unexpected.
