JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia’s Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have extended condolences to Nepal following severe floods and landslides in the country’s northern region. Both leaders sent separate messages to Nepalese President Ram Chandra Poudel, expressing sympathy for the victims and their families affected by the recent natural disasters.

In his message, King Salman conveyed his sorrow over the lives lost and those still missing due to the heavy flooding and landslides. He also offered prayers for the safe return of those unaccounted for and wished for Nepal to avoid further damage from the ongoing situation.

The floods and landslides, triggered by intense monsoon rains, have resulted in significant loss of life and widespread disruption. Current reports indicate that the death toll has risen to at least 633, with nearly 3,000 people still missing. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing as authorities strive to reach affected areas and provide necessary assistance.

The disaster has impacted large swaths of northern Nepal, causing infrastructure damage and displacing numerous residents. The Nepalese government, along with international aid organizations, continues efforts to manage the aftermath and support recovery and rehabilitation initiatives.
