King’s Lynn Town and Harborough Town played out a 1-1 draw in a closely contested match at the Docherty Walks Stadium on Saturday, attracting a crowd of 1,592 spectators. The newly promoted Harborough Town took an early lead through Riley O’Sullivan, before King’s Lynn Town’s Jesse Nwabueze equalized early in the second half.

Harborough Town, nicknamed the Bees, opened the scoring when Sam Osborne’s through ball found Connor Kennedy. Although Kennedy’s initial shot was saved, the rebound fell to O’Sullivan, who volleyed the ball into the net. Harborough came close to doubling their advantage just before halftime, but Ronnie Hollingshead was unable to capitalize after a clearance from Josh Powell.

King’s Lynn Town, often referred to as the Linnets, responded shortly after the break. Nine minutes into the second half, Nwabueze converted a free-kick delivery from Clunan to level the score. The Linnets continued to press, with Kwame Thomas nearly giving them the lead following a knockdown by Josh McCammon, but Thomas’s scissor kick struck the post.

Both teams created further chances in an engaging second half. Britt Assombalonga curled a shot narrowly off target for King’s Lynn, while Tom Scott was denied by Harborough keeper Elliott Taylor at the other end. Early in the match, Nwabueze impressed with a clever ball that led to Tom Scott nearly scoring; Scott’s shot hit the post before Reece Hall-Johnson fired over.

King’s Lynn Town showed a marked improvement from their previous season, where they narrowly avoided relegation on the final day. The draw sees both teams share the points, reflecting the competitive nature of the match and the closely matched levels of the two sides.
