Kuwait Projects Company (Holding) (KIPCO) has fully repaid the outstanding portion of its $500 million Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) bond, totaling approximately $353.98 million, ahead of its scheduled maturity date. The repayment was completed on November 1, funded entirely from the Group’s existing financial resources.
The early settlement was carried out without the need for refinancing, a move that highlights KIPCO’s strong liquidity position amid ongoing uncertainties in global financial markets and rising borrowing costs. According to Moustapha Chami, KIPCO’s Group Chief Financial Officer, the repayment demonstrates the company's disciplined approach to managing liabilities while preserving financial flexibility to support its strategic goals. He noted that reducing the overall debt burden and associated financing costs is particularly significant given the current market environment.
KIPCO’s EMTN program, launched in 2006 with an initial issuance size of $2 billion and later expanded to $3 billion, has been a key instrument for accessing international debt markets and diversifying the Group’s funding sources. Despite the recent repayment, the program remains active, allowing KIPCO to tap international debt markets when deemed appropriate as part of its broader financing strategy.
The early bond repayment marks a milestone in KIPCO’s ongoing efforts to optimize its capital structure and underscores the company’s commitment to meeting its financial obligations. The move is seen as reinforcing KIPCO’s established track record of fulfilling commitments to investors and maintaining prudent financial management practices.
