Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) has announced an increase in fares for its KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services, effective from January 1, 2027. The standard one-way adult fare between KL Sentral and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 will rise to RM65 from the current RM55. This marks the first fare adjustment in 11 years, since 2016.
The fare revision comes amid rising operating and maintenance costs, a factor cited by ERL in aligning the increase with the terms specified in its Concession Agreement with the Malaysian government. ERL’s chief executive officer, Datin Noormah Mohd Noor, said the adjustment reflects the ongoing challenges of maintaining a high-quality airport rail link and ensuring sustainability over the long term. She emphasized that the services have consistently delivered safe, reliable, and comfortable travel despite increasing expenses.
Under the new fare structure, the one-way ticket for children aged six to 15 between KL Sentral and KLIA Terminals will be set at RM29, with children below six continuing to travel free of charge. Return fares will be RM118 for adults and RM53 for the same child age group on this route.
In addition to the main KL Sentral-KLIA fares, ERL will also revise prices for other sectors on its network. One-way adult fares between KL Sentral and Bandar Tasik Selatan, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, and Salak Tinggi will be adjusted to RM7.70, RM16.60, and RM21.60, respectively. Fares between intermediate stations have also been updated, including RM9.50 between Bandar Tasik Selatan and Putrajaya/Cyberjaya, RM14.70 between Bandar Tasik Selatan and Salak Tinggi, and RM5.60 between Putrajaya and Salak Tinggi.
Further fares include RM45.40 between Bandar Tasik Selatan and KLIA terminals, RM11.50 from Putrajaya/Cyberjaya to KLIA terminals, RM5.80 from Salak Tinggi to KLIA terminals, and RM2 between KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Children’s fares across these routes will range from RM1 to RM20.50.
ERL has indicated ongoing discussions with various partners to introduce exclusive ticket discounts of up to 30%, expected to begin in January 2027, aimed at providing passengers with potential savings. Details of these promotional offers will be released once finalised.
This year marks the 24th anniversary of ERL’s operations connecting KLIA Terminals 1 and 2 with the city, serving over 141 million passengers to date. The fare adjustments are part of ERL’s efforts to uphold service standards and continue investment in improving passenger experience on this critical transport link.
