The New York Knicks have made a roster move as the competition for the final spots heats up ahead of the NBA season. On Wednesday, the team waived guard John Konchar and signed center Tony Bradley to a nonguaranteed Exhibit 9 deal, inviting him to training camp on a tryout basis. Bradley joins Drew Eubanks and James Wiseman in vying for a backup center role behind starter Karl-Anthony Towns.

Coach Mike Brown emphasized that the team is placing significant focus on the center position, noting that Andre Drummond remains the only other center on a guaranteed contract aside from Towns. Brown also indicated that the team is considering veteran wings Bruce Brown and Ochai Agbaji, who are involved in a broader battle for roster spots, even though they are not natural big men. The Knicks may choose to retain one of those wings and delay solidifying a third-center depth option.

“Tony’s a veteran guy that’s still in his prime and has a good feel for the game,” Brown said of Bradley. “Knows how to play the game the right way.”

In addition to Bradley’s signing, the Knicks also added guard Jaden Akins on a two-way contract, filling the team's final two-way slot. Akins participated with the Knicks during Summer League and went undrafted out of Michigan State last year. He spent the previous season with the Detroit Pistons’ G League affiliate. This signing follows the Knicks’ earlier moves of adding Tyler Nickel and Kevin McCullar Jr. to two-way deals.

As training camp progresses, the Knicks continue to evaluate their roster options with an emphasis on balancing veteran experience and potential while addressing key positional needs ahead of the regular season.
