Konkan and Central Railways have announced the operation of a weekly special train service between Madgaon and Panvel to manage the increased passenger demand during the summer holiday season. Reservations for this service will open on May 14.
The special train will comprise a total of 23 coaches, including three third-tier air-conditioned coaches, eleven sleeper class coaches, seven general compartments, and two SLR (seating-cum-luggage rake) coaches.
Train number 01106 will depart from Madgaon on May 17 at 4:30 p.m. and is scheduled to arrive at Panvel at 4 a.m. the following day. The return journey, train number 01105, will leave Panvel on May 18 at 5:45 a.m. and reach Madgaon by 6:10 p.m. the same day.
The train will make stops at several stations along the route, including Karmali, Thivim, Sawantwadi Road, Kudal, Sindhudurg, Kankavli, Vaibhavwadi Road, Rajapur Road, Vilavade, Advali, Ratnagiri, Sangameshwar Road, Chiplun, Khed, Mangaon, Roha, and Pen.
This additional service aims to accommodate the surge in travelers typical of the holiday period, offering increased capacity and more travel options between the Konkan region and Panvel.
