Cardiff City defender Krystian Bielik has been suspended for two matches and fined £10,000 ($13,272) following an altercation with a Portsmouth supporter during an English Football League (EFL) Championship match on September 5. The incident took place at Fratton Park during the second half of Cardiff’s 2-0 defeat.

According to video footage of the event, Bielik, a Polish center-back, approached the stands to retrieve the ball after it was caught by a teenage Portsmouth fan. The supporter then threw the ball back onto the pitch, after which Bielik appeared to push the boy in the throat. The altercation drew attention both at the venue and subsequently from the authorities.

Hampshire Police launched an investigation into the incident but decided to take no further action once their enquiries were complete. The Football Association (FA) confirmed the disciplinary measures against Bielik on Tuesday, citing misconduct during the match.

Bielik’s suspension means he will miss the next two Championship fixtures for Cardiff City, while the £10,000 fine represents a financial penalty imposed by the FA in line with its regulations on player conduct. The ruling underscores the governing body’s stance on maintaining professionalism and appropriate behavior during matches.
