Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with key international partners during Hannover Messe 2026 in Germany, reinforcing the Kingdom’s efforts to boost industrial localization and enhance global manufacturing cooperation. The agreements were made with Phoenix Contact Saudi Arabia, Alfanar Co., Abunayyan Trading, and the United Technology of Electric Substations and Switchgears, focusing on expanding collaboration in electrical manufacturing, smart grid technologies, and industrial development.

The MoUs aim to facilitate technology transfer and deepen industrial partnerships consistent with Saudi Arabia’s long-term development goals. The announcements were made at Hannover Messe, held from April 20 to 24, an event where the Kingdom showcased its manufacturing sector ambitions and sought to attract foreign investment. The Saudi pavilion presented various investment opportunities in the industrial and mining sectors while highlighting the adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to boost productivity and competitiveness.

During the event, Saudi officials engaged with several leading global industrial and technology firms, including Siemens, Festo, Schneider Electric, and the Fraunhofer Institute. Discussions centered on opportunities for collaboration, investment, technology transfer, and further localization of advanced industrial capabilities within Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry emphasized that participation at Hannover Messe aligns with a broader strategy to position the Kingdom as a favorable destination for industrial investment and to expand international partnerships. Saudi Arabia offers significant incentives and access to mineral resources valued at more than $2.5 trillion, underpinning its role as a vital player in downstream industries and value chains related to critical minerals and clean energy technologies.

Saudi Arabia’s industrial sector has seen rapid growth in recent years, with more than 10,000 factories in operation and total investments surpassing $350 billion. Under Vision 2030, the country aims to raise the industrial sector’s contribution to gross domestic product to 20 percent, emphasizing further localization of advanced manufacturing and greater industrial self-sufficiency.

In conjunction with Hannover Messe, the Ministry also marked International Women’s Day in Industry on April 21, reflecting the Kingdom’s ongoing initiatives to increase female participation within the industrial workforce. This observance supports broader national efforts to promote workforce diversity and enhance human capital development as part of Saudi Arabia’s industrial strategy.
