Mohammed Kudus has expressed his determination to win a trophy with Tottenham Hotspur as a measure of his success at the club. The winger, who joined Spurs in a £55 million transfer from West Ham, acknowledged the high expectations placed on him since arriving at the London club.
Despite a modest return of two goals in 20 appearances, Kudus has provided five assists in the Premier League this season, emerging as one of the more positive contributors amid Tottenham’s inconsistent start. The 25-year-old said he is still adapting to the demands of the Premier League and the immediate pressure to perform at a top-level club.
“Even though the demands are high, and obviously there’s no time, you’ve got to perform immediately joining a club because that’s what the league is about,” Kudus remarked ahead of Tottenham’s Champions League match against Slavia Prague. “I’ve been settling smoothly so far, but there’s still a lot more to do and to show.”
Kudus also highlighted the importance of accountability among teammates, reflecting on a moment during Tottenham’s recent 2-0 victory over Brentford when defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven vocally challenged him after a misplaced ball. “It’s very important to be honest with each other and demand more,” he said. “There’s pressure to win every game at a big club like Tottenham. It was a good boost to win on Saturday. We need to build on that.”
Looking ahead to international competition, Kudus acknowledged the challenge of facing England in the World Cup group stage, alongside his native Ghana. “It’s good to have England in the group,” he stated. “We are aware of the side we are facing and the quality they have, but we will definitely be up for it and ready.”
Kudus’s comments underscore his ambition to establish himself both at club level and on the international stage as Tottenham seek to improve their early-season form and make an impact in Europe.
