Mohammed Kudus has emphasized his determination to win a trophy with Tottenham Hotspur as a measure of his progress and belonging at the highest level of football. The winger, who joined Spurs in a £55 million transfer from West Ham, has emerged as one of the more promising players during a challenging start to the season for the London club.
Ahead of Tottenham’s Champions League match against Slavia Prague, Kudus outlined his ambition to achieve silverware with the team. Although he has scored only twice in 20 appearances so far, he has contributed five assists in the Premier League. The 25-year-old acknowledged that adapting to the Premier League’s demands is ongoing. “I’m still getting used to everything,” Kudus said. “Even though the demands are high, and obviously there’s no time, you’ve got to perform immediately joining a club because that’s what the league is about. I’ve been settling smoothly so far, but there’s still a lot more to do and to show.”
Kudus also highlighted the expectations placed on players at a club of Tottenham’s stature. Following a moment on Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Brentford, where he lost possession while attempting a showboating move, teammates Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven promptly expressed their dissatisfaction. “It’s very important to be honest with each other and demand more,” Kudus said. “There’s pressure to win every game at a big club like Tottenham. It was a good boost to win on Saturday. We need to build on that.”
Looking beyond club football, Kudus is also focusing on his international career. Ghana, his national team, has been drawn into a World Cup group with England. He acknowledged the strength of the English squad but expressed confidence and readiness for the challenge. “It’s good to have England in the group,” he said. “We are aware of the side we are facing and the quality they have, but we will definitely be up for it and ready.”
The lineup for Tottenham ahead of the Champions League encounter included goalkeeper Vicario; defenders Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, and Spence; midfielders Bergvall and Palhinha; with Kudus, Simons, Odobert, and Kolo Muani forming the attacking unit.
