A delegation from Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) visited the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Monday to receive an overview of the agency’s news operations and fact-checking procedures. The visit included detailed briefings on KUNA’s editorial workflow, news dissemination, and the use of advanced technologies in media content production.
Acting Editor-in-Chief Bader Al-Sharhan, alongside other senior editorial staff, provided the delegation with an explanation of the daily processes involved in writing, editing, and publishing news articles in Arabic, English, and French. The group was introduced to KUNA’s general news bulletin, which is disseminated through multiple social media platforms, highlighting the integration of images, headline selection, and post writing techniques used by the agency.
The delegation also toured the KUNA Smart Oasis, a facility focused on new media innovations and the application of artificial intelligence for content creation and delivery. This visit offered the KOC representatives firsthand insight into how KUNA incorporates emerging technologies to stay aligned with current media trends.
At the Information and Research Center, the delegation was briefed on the center’s methodologies for handling news and information, including the archiving processes, collection and classification of news materials, and the various media formats KUNA employs. The center’s role in preparing reports, studies, periodicals, and research papers was also covered during the session.
Additionally, the delegation learned about the operations of KUNA’s News Fact-Checking and Rumor-Responding Observatory, which monitors misinformation and implements swift, professional measures to counteract false information.
Reem Al-Mee, Head of Media Management at KOC, commended KUNA for its role as a trusted source of local and international news. She stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration between KUNA and KOC to strengthen the overall impact of Kuwaiti media.
