Kuwait Airways and the American University of Kuwait (AUK) formalized a partnership on Tuesday by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing collaboration in academic, training, and professional development sectors. The agreement was signed by Kuwait Airways Acting CEO Abdulwahab Al-Shatti and AUK President Dr. Aseel Al-Awadhi.
The MoU seeks to foster a sustainable cooperative framework between the two institutions, focusing on bridging academic theory with practical industry experience. Al-Shatti emphasized that this collaboration will support the development of national talent by offering students opportunities to engage directly with the aviation sector, while also addressing labor market needs through targeted training programs.
Under the terms of the agreement, Kuwait Airways and AUK will jointly organize a series of initiatives including specialized lectures, seminars, workshops, and expert exchanges designed to facilitate knowledge sharing and enhance students’ professional skills. The partnership also includes provisions for professional development programs tailored for Kuwait Airways employees, coordinated through AUK’s Center for Continuing Education (CCE). These efforts aim to promote continuous learning and improve workforce competencies within the airline.
Al-Shatti highlighted that the cooperation will extend to emerging fields such as cybersecurity, digital transformation, innovative work methodologies, and overall institutional performance enhancement. Moreover, Kuwait Airways will take part in career fairs and employment events hosted by AUK, allowing the airline to connect directly with students and recent graduates and support talent acquisition efforts.
Dr. Al-Awadhi described the MoU as a strategic move to strengthen ties between academia and the aviation industry. She noted that the partnership reflects AUK’s dedication to delivering a comprehensive educational experience that merges academic rigor with hands-on application, preparing students to contribute effectively to Kuwait’s socio-economic development.
