Kuwait’s Minister of State for Development and Sustainability Affairs, Dr. Reem Al-Fulaij, met with Chinese Ambassador Yang Xin on Monday to discuss expanding cooperation on environmental protection, sustainable development, and related technologies. The meeting took place at the Environment Public Authority headquarters in Kuwait City.
During the discussions, both officials reviewed current and potential areas of collaboration between Kuwait and China, focusing on environmental and energy initiatives as well as sustainable development goals. Key topics included the development of desalination and wastewater treatment technologies, efforts to enhance food security amid regional and climate challenges, and strategies to combat desertification.
Dr. Al-Fulaij emphasized the importance of applying modern agricultural technologies to support the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She also suggested increased coordination between Kuwait’s Environment Public Authority and relevant government bodies with their Chinese counterparts to facilitate knowledge exchange and joint projects.
The meeting aimed to reinforce bilateral relations and advance mutual interests in addressing environmental and developmental challenges. Both sides expressed commitment to pursuing collaborative initiatives that leverage expertise and technological innovation to promote sustainability in the region.
