The Kuwaiti Office for Charitable Projects in Cairo and the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House have formalized a cooperation agreement aimed at assisting the most vulnerable families in Egypt. The signing took place on May 17 at Al-Azhar, Cairo, with the ceremony attended by Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayeb and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Egypt Ghanem Al-Ghanem.
The protocol was signed by Engineer Jamal Al-Majdali, Director of the Kuwaiti Office for Charitable Projects, and Dr. Sahar Nasr, Secretary General of the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House. Following the signing, Sheikh Al-Tayeb highlighted the longstanding fraternal ties between Egypt and Kuwait, emphasizing their extensive collaboration in humanitarian and charitable fields. Kuwaiti Ambassador Al-Ghanem described the relationship as a model of brotherly cooperation grounded in mutual respect and shared destiny. He underlined the strong commitment of Kuwait’s leadership, government, and people to charitable efforts in Egypt, noting the longstanding historical connections between the two countries.
Al-Ghanem said the partnership with Egyptian institutions, particularly Al-Azhar, plays a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of aid delivery, ensuring that support reaches the neediest populations. Engineer Al-Majdali revealed that the agreement includes a financial donation of 3,881,000 Egyptian pounds (approximately $73,464) from Dr. Majda Al-Yatama, designated to assist poor students and orphans. He expressed appreciation for Dr. Al-Yatama and other donors, emphasizing the importance of such contributions to sustaining ongoing humanitarian and development initiatives.
Dr. Sahar Nasr described the protocol as a reflection of the close relations and historical connections between the Egyptian and Kuwaiti peoples. She emphasized the shared commitment to reinforcing social solidarity, especially during challenging economic circumstances. Dr. Nasr also extended gratitude to the State of Kuwait, its leadership, and the Kuwaiti Office for Charitable Projects in Cairo for their support of vulnerable families throughout Egyptian governorates.
The Egyptian Zakat and Charity House administers various aid programs, including monthly financial support through its “Sanad” initiative, as well as providing food assistance, orphan sponsorship, patient care, support for persons with disabilities, and help for women’s marriages. The newly signed cooperation agreement aims to further enhance these efforts and improve living conditions for Egypt’s most disadvantaged communities.
