Kuwait and Turkey are working to strengthen their cooperation in humanitarian efforts, highlighted during a recent meeting between Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait Tuba Nur Sonmez and Chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society Khaled Al-Mughamis.

Ambassador Sonmez acknowledged Kuwait’s distinguished role in global humanitarian work, emphasizing the country’s sustained and generous support for communities affected by crises worldwide. She praised the Kuwait Red Crescent Society for its leading role in regional and international relief activities. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss ways to enhance coordination and explore prospects for future collaboration in humanitarian initiatives. Sonmez also reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to deepening ties with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society to further shared objectives in relief work.

Al-Mughamis expressed the society’s ongoing commitment to building and expanding international partnerships to address increasing global humanitarian challenges. He described humanitarian activities as a crucial conduit for international cooperation and stressed the long-standing relationship between Kuwait and Turkey in this field. Over recent years, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society has implemented multiple projects in Turkey, including aid for Syrian refugees and development programs, demonstrating the strength of bilateral humanitarian relations.

The discussions also included a review of Kuwait’s major humanitarian interventions, focusing on providing relief to disaster-affected populations globally. Both sides explored options to intensify bilateral cooperation and share expertise, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of their respective humanitarian responses.
