Kuwait’s Ministry of Justice has approved 132 candidates for the role of Junior Legal Researcher, a position that qualifies them to join the Public Prosecution as Public Prosecutors. Minister of Justice Nasser Al-Sumait announced the approvals on Tuesday, describing the intake as the largest in the country’s history.

The recruitment drive aligns with Kuwait’s strategic plan to fully Kuwaitize the judiciary by 2030. Al-Sumait emphasized that the initiative aims to support and empower local talent while equipping the justice system with qualified Kuwaiti professionals able to advance the development of judicial work. The effort is part of broader national priorities to localize key government roles and strengthen human capital.

Candidates, who were all Kuwaiti men and women, underwent a rigorous selection process that included electronic written exams and personal interviews conducted from July 12 to August 15, 2024. A specialized committee, comprising senior judges and public prosecutors, supervised the evaluations to ensure transparency, equal opportunity, and the integrity of the selection procedures.

Al-Sumait noted that the comprehensive review of admission procedures was designed to uphold the quality of outcomes and enhance public trust in the recruitment process. The new prosecutors are expected to contribute significantly to the functionality and efficiency of Kuwait’s judicial system in the coming years.
