The Kuwait men’s national basketball team fell to Bahrain 67–95 on Monday in the final Group 1 match of the first round of the preliminary qualifiers for the 2029 Asian Cup. The game took place in Dubai and marked the conclusion of Kuwait’s opening round in the tournament.
Kuwait finished the first phase with a record of two wins and two losses. The team secured victories against Oman (88–63) and Nepal (88–65), while experiencing defeats to the United Arab Emirates (72–75) and Bahrain. Despite the loss to Bahrain, Kuwait advanced to the second round of qualifiers alongside Bahrain and the UAE, who all emerged as the top teams from Group 1.
In the next stage of the competition, Kuwait will compete in Group 5 against Palestine, Kazakhstan, and Sri Lanka. The Asian Cup qualifiers are part of the region’s broader effort to determine the final field for the 2029 tournament, which brings together top national teams from across Asia.
