Kuwait’s national youth handball team secured a 36-31 victory over China on July 25 during the 5th to 8th place classification round at the 19th Asian Men’s Junior Handball Championship held in China. The tournament, which features 13 teams and serves as a qualifier for the 2027 IHF Men’s Youth World Championship in Macedonia, will conclude on July 27.

Kuwait took control early in the match, establishing a four-goal lead of 21-17 by halftime. The team maintained their advantage throughout the second half to seal a five-goal win. Kuwaiti player Yousef Madouh was recognized as the Man of the Match for his performance.

Following this victory, Kuwait is set to face Chinese Taipei in the final match of the tournament on July 27, competing for fifth place. The win keeps Kuwait in contention for their best possible finish in the championship, despite missing out on a spot in the semifinals and the direct qualification for the 2027 World Championship.

Looking ahead, the Asian Handball Federation has announced the schedule for the 11th Asian Men’s Junior Handball Championship, which will be held in Amman, Jordan, from August 20 to 31. This upcoming tournament also serves as a qualifier for the 2027 IHF Men’s Youth World Championship. Kuwait has been placed in Group B alongside South Korea, Iran, Jordan, Syria, and India. The team will open its campaign against Syria on August 20 and will then face Iran, India, Jordan, and South Korea during the preliminary round.
