The Kuwait Boxing Federation officially opened its 2026-2027 season on September 26 with the launch of the first Junior Championship held at its hall in Sabah Al-Salem. The tournament, which runs through September 30, features young boxers competing across various junior age categories. This event serves as the federation’s initial competition of the season and aims to identify promising talent while providing participants with opportunities to gain experience and hone their skills at an early stage in their sporting careers.
Abdullah Khaled Al-Otaibi, president of the Kuwait Boxing Federation, highlighted the federation’s focus on expanding participation in boxing, particularly among youth athletes. He emphasized that developing the junior categories is critical to building a strong foundation for future national teams. According to Al-Otaibi, the federation is dedicated to offering young boxers regular chances to compete in local tournaments to enhance their development.
“The championship is part of the federation’s plan for the new sports season,” Al-Otaibi stated. “It will strengthen boxing’s presence across different age groups and help identify new talent that can be developed and prepared to represent Kuwait in upcoming competitions.”
The event is seen as an important step in promoting boxing within the country and nurturing the next generation of athletes who may compete at national and international levels.
