The Kuwait Center for Commercial Arbitration, affiliated with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), concluded its enhanced “Arbitrator Training Program” for 2026 after a three-week session that began on June 7. The program is part of the center’s broader initiative to increase legal and arbitration expertise within the country and to develop qualified national arbitrators and specialists.
Designed to deliver advanced training, the program was conducted under the supervision of distinguished professors alongside both local and international arbitration practitioners. Its objective was to equip participants with comprehensive legal, technical, and practical skills necessary for the resolution of commercial disputes through arbitration.
The training was structured into three distinct phases. The first phase concentrated on arbitration agreements, emphasizing their various forms and the legal criteria required to ensure their validity. This segment included rigorous workshops and practical exercises aimed at drafting arbitration clauses in commercial contracts to minimize legal vulnerabilities.
During the second phase, the focus shifted to the arbitration panel and proceedings. Topics tackled included the legal status of arbitrators, their associated rights and duties, and the processes involved in forming arbitration panels. Participants also gained insights into managing arbitration hearings, including the handling of witnesses and procedural pleadings.
The final phase was dedicated to the arbitration award and drafting processes. Emphasis was placed on identifying the essential components of an arbitration award, maintaining confidentiality in panel deliberations, and producing final enforceable arbitration decisions.
Through this comprehensive program, the Kuwait Center for Commercial Arbitration continues to reinforce its commitment to strengthening the arbitration framework in Kuwait, enhancing the expertise of legal professionals, and supporting the development of a robust dispute resolution environment.
