Kuwaiti charitable organizations have expanded their humanitarian efforts with the inauguration of a new residential village in Yemen, aimed at supporting vulnerable families. The Al-Najat Charity Society opened the “Umm Muhammad Al-Hajri Residential Village” in Al-Khawkhah District, which serves as the temporary administrative center of Yemen’s Al-Hudaydah Governorate on the Red Sea coast.
This initiative is part of the "Kuwait By Your Side" humanitarian campaign, now in its 12th year, and is being overseen by the Spirit of Giving for Development Foundation. Abdul Raouf Al-Yousifi, head of the foundation, indicated that the first phase of the project includes the construction of six fully equipped housing units along with an artesian well. These facilities are intended to provide beneficiary families with a secure and stable living environment.
Al-Yousifi highlighted that the project aligns with Kuwait’s broader humanitarian strategy, which is implemented through various charitable and relief organizations. The focus is on supporting the most vulnerable families by providing adequate housing and improving access to essential services in underserved areas. The initiative comes amid ongoing humanitarian, economic, and social challenges faced by many Yemeni families.
The development of the Umm Muhammad Al-Hajri Residential Village represents part of Kuwait’s sustained commitment to aid in Yemen. Al-Yousifi expressed that Kuwait’s ongoing support for development and relief projects has played a significant role in alleviating suffering and improving living conditions for vulnerable communities in the country.
The project serves as an example of Kuwait’s continued engagement in addressing humanitarian needs in Yemen, where conflict and economic difficulties have left many families in precarious situations. The housing units and infrastructure built through this initiative aim to help stabilize the living conditions of those affected as part of a wider effort to provide essential services and long-term assistance.
