Kuwait Club aims to bolster its chances of progressing in the AFC Champions League Two group stage when it faces Uzbekistan’s Nasaf Qarshi on Wednesday. The Group B fixture is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. local time at the Central Stadium in Qarshi.
Kuwait Club currently stands second in the group with three points. The team began its campaign with a 2-0 loss to the UAE’s Al-Wahda, the group leaders with six points, but rebounded by defeating Bahrain’s Khalidiya 3-1 in the second round. Nasaf Qarshi and Khalidiya each hold one point entering the third round.
The Kuwaiti side has shown strong form domestically, leading the Zain Premier League with 16 points and having scored 20 goals across its last three league matches. Bringing that offensive momentum to the continental stage, coach Firas Al-Khatib hopes his balanced squad can secure another vital victory.
The team roster combines experienced players and emerging talent, including Ahmad Al-Dhafiri, Yousef Nasser, and Mohammed Dahham, supported by foreign professionals such as Tunisia’s Yassine Khenissi, Bahrain’s Mohammed Marhoon, Congo’s Arsène “Malik” Zola, Cameroon’s Omar Gonzalez, and Morocco’s Mehdi Barrahma.
Nasaf Qarshi will be looking to leverage the advantage of playing at home as the Uzbek club seeks its first win in the competition. A second defeat would seriously challenge their prospects of advancing to the next phase.
The match will be officiated by a Qatari refereeing team led by Abdulhadi Al-Ruwaili as the main referee, with Yousef Aref and Zahi Sanad as assistants, and Mohammed Al-Mazeed serving as the fourth official.
