Kuwait has extended its congratulations to Franz Reindl following his election as president of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) for a four-year term. The announcement came at the conclusion of the IIHF’s 2026 Annual Congress, held on October 3 in Madrid, Spain.

Mishal Al-Ajmi, who led Kuwait’s delegation and serves as Development Director at the Kuwait Winter Sports Club, conveyed the country’s best wishes to Reindl as he assumes leadership of the global organization overseeing ice hockey. Al-Ajmi expressed hope for continued growth and wider international engagement within the sport under Reindl’s guidance.

In addition to offering congratulations, Al-Ajmi extended an invitation to Reindl and other top international hockey officials to attend the upcoming IIHF World Championship Division IV tournament. Kuwait’s delegation at the IIHF Annual Congress also included Rashid Al-Failakawi, a member of the Winter Sports Club Development Board. The congress agenda encompassed discussions on strategies to advance ice hockey worldwide, revisions to regulations, and the planning of forthcoming men’s and women’s world championship tournaments across various divisions and categories.
