Kuwait’s Consul General in Jeddah and Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Yousef Al-Tunaib, emphasized the significance of Kuwait’s participation in the 27th Gulf Cup, underscoring the importance of enhancing Kuwaiti sports presence on the international stage. Al-Tunaib made the remarks Sunday during a visit to the Kuwaiti national football team’s training session at the King Abdullah Sports City auxiliary stadium in Jeddah.

Expressing well wishes for the team, Al-Tunaib highlighted the importance of achieving results that reflect Kuwait’s rich football heritage. He also commended Saudi Arabia for its preparations to host the tournament, noting the high standard of organization and facilities extended to all participating teams and delegations.

Al-Tunaib expressed confidence that Saudi Arabia’s strong infrastructure and experience in managing major sporting events would contribute significantly to the success of the Gulf Cup. The tournament is scheduled to run from September 23 to October 6 in Jeddah.

The Kuwaiti national team resumed its training Sunday in advance of the tournament’s opening match, where Kuwait will face the host nation, Saudi Arabia, in what is considered one of the event’s most anticipated contests. Kuwait is competing in Group A alongside Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Oman. Group B features the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Yemen.
