Kuwait's national basketball team secured an 88–65 win over Nepal in their third match of the Group A preliminary qualifiers for the 2029 Asian Cup on Friday in Dubai. This victory marked Kuwait’s second success in the qualifying campaign after opening with an 88–63 win against Oman.
Prior to facing Nepal, Kuwait narrowly lost to the United Arab Emirates, falling 72–75 in their second game. Group A includes Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, and Nepal, with the top three teams advancing to the next phase of the qualifiers.
The tournament, held across Dubai, serves as the initial stage for teams competing for a place in the 2029 Asian Cup, with each group’s leading teams moving forward in the qualification process. Kuwait’s performance positions them well in contention to progress beyond the preliminary round.
