During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah engaged in a series of high-level meetings focused on humanitarian aid, regional partnerships, and economic cooperation.
On September 25, the Crown Prince met with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Barham Salih to discuss the ongoing humanitarian collaboration between Kuwait and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). The dialogue centered on enhancing global humanitarian responses and addressing the needs of refugees and displaced populations. The meeting included participation from senior Kuwaiti officials such as Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the UN Ambassador Tareq Al-Bannai.
Earlier in the week, Kuwait’s Crown Prince held a separate meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to review cooperation under the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative. Discussions involved the continuation of training and technical assistance through the NATO Regional Centre situated in Kuwait, as well as regional and international developments impacting security.
Further bilateral engagements included discussions with President Andras Baka of Hungary and President Azali Assoumani of the Union of the Comoros. These meetings, held at Kuwait’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, focused on strengthening diplomatic relations and enhancing cooperation on various levels. In both instances, the Crown Prince extended greetings from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and conveyed wishes for the welfare and progress of their respective nations.
Additional interactions involved meetings with Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin to explore avenues for bilateral cooperation amid evolving regional and global contexts.
Kuwait also engaged with leading figures from the private sector to advance technological and infrastructural development. Discussions with Scale AI CEO Francis deSouza addressed potential collaboration in artificial intelligence applications, big data, and digital transformation, aiming to support Kuwait’s government and economic sectors while building national expertise.
The Crown Prince also conferred with Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova, reviewing ongoing energy sector projects and strategies to enhance the efficiency of power generation facilities. The anniversary of the GE Technology Center in Kuwait was noted as a milestone in efforts to develop local human capital aligned with Kuwait Vision 2035 goals.
Finally, representatives from Limak Holding, including Board Advisor Volkan Bozkir and Chairperson Ebru Ozdemir, met with the Crown Prince to provide updates on major infrastructure projects such as the Kuwait International Airport expansion. Discussions emphasized national training initiatives, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity building to boost economic competitiveness.
These engagements demonstrate Kuwait’s ongoing commitment to multilateral cooperation, regional stability, and economic modernization amidst the framework of its broader national development strategy.
