The Kuwait Dive Team, operating under the Environmental Voluntary Foundation, successfully salvaged a sunken vessel off the coast of Marina Sharq, Kuwait, according to team leader Walid Al-Fadhel. The operation was completed recently, marking another milestone in the team's ongoing marine salvage efforts.

Al-Fadhel emphasized the importance of safety precautions for individuals engaging in marine activities, urging sea-goers to follow established safety guidelines to prevent maritime accidents. He highlighted that vessels that sink or sustain damage can release hazardous chemicals and other pollutants into the water, posing significant risks to marine ecosystems, particularly to sensitive coral reefs in the region.

Since its establishment in 1986, the Kuwait Dive Team has been actively involved in recovering sunken and damaged vessels. Over the past four decades, the team has retrieved approximately 830 vessels of varying sizes and types from Kuwaiti waters, contributing to both environmental protection and maritime safety.

The salvage operations aim not only to remove physical hazards from navigational routes but also to mitigate environmental damage caused by leaking fuel and other contaminants. The team’s work underscores ongoing efforts within Kuwait to address marine pollution and protect coastal habitats.
