KUWAIT CITY — The Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) is intensifying its collaboration with legal institutions to strengthen efforts against corruption and promote integrity across the country. On Monday, Dr. Rana Al-Fares, chairperson of Nazaha, met with Counselor Salah Al-Majed, president of the Fatwa and Legislation Department, to explore ways to enhance joint initiatives aimed at improving legal frameworks and institutional performance in combating corruption.

The meeting, held at the Fatwa and Legislation Department headquarters, was part of a broader series of engagements by Dr. Al-Fares with entities involved in law enforcement, governance, and anti-corruption measures. Discussions focused on reinforcing cooperation to protect existing legislation and optimize the legal mechanisms underpinning anti-corruption efforts in Kuwait. Both officials emphasized the critical role that legal bodies play in supporting efforts to improve the nation’s corruption perception indicators and its status in international rankings.

Dr. Al-Fares highlighted that Nazaha’s Board of Directors is advancing a comprehensive national strategy designed to tackle corruption systematically by promoting a culture of transparency and integrity. This strategy involves close coordination with various government agencies to address corruption at its root causes.

Counselor Al-Majed underscored the necessity of integration between legal and oversight institutions, noting that the Fatwa and Legislation Department remains committed to supporting national anti-corruption campaigns. He emphasized the department’s role in developing new legislation and sealing legal gaps that could potentially compromise public funds.

The renewed cooperation between Nazaha and the Fatwa and Legislation Department aligns with Kuwait’s broader goal of enhancing institutional effectiveness and strengthening the rule of law in its fight against corruption.
