The Kuwait Fire Force (KFF) has issued a public safety advisory emphasizing proper use and storage of lithium batteries used in smart electronic devices and electronic games. The warning, released on July 25 through official social media channels, highlighted potential risks associated with improper handling of these batteries, including device overheating and fire hazards.

KFF urged consumers to use chargers that comply with approved quality standards, cautioning against the use of low-quality or counterfeit chargers that may cause short circuits or lead to devices overheating. The force also advised against leaving devices plugged in for prolonged periods, particularly overnight, due to the increased risk of battery failure or ignition.

In addition to charging practices, the advisory recommended avoiding exposure of lithium batteries and electronic devices to direct sunlight or high temperatures, such as leaving them inside vehicles or open areas during hot weather. Such conditions can degrade battery integrity and increase the chance of damage or combustion.

Furthermore, the Kuwait Fire Force underscored the importance of storing lithium batteries away from flammable materials and in well-ventilated spaces. Proper storage is considered a critical step in preventing accidents related to these batteries, which are widely used but pose inherent safety challenges if mishandled. The KFF’s campaign seeks to raise awareness and reduce incidents involving lithium battery fires in households across Kuwait.
