Kuwait and Iraq have agreed to establish a joint working team tasked with resolving outstanding issues between the two neighboring countries. The decision followed a meeting on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where representatives from both nations convened to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

The meeting involved the Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah from Kuwait, and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi. The parties reached a consensus to form a joint committee responsible for developing a roadmap to address pending matters and generate recommendations for submission to their respective leaderships within 30 days.

The team is slated to hold regular sessions, alternating between Kuwait City and Baghdad, until it completes its work. Both governments have expressed full support and commitment to the task force, emphasizing the shared objective of resolving all remaining issues and enhancing cooperation and partnership. The initiative is framed in the context of promoting brotherhood, good-neighborliness, and mutual interests, with the ultimate aim of serving the people of both countries.
