The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information received two awards at the 26th Arab Radio and Television Festival, which concluded on September 25 in Tunis. The event, organized by the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), was held at the city’s Opera House as part of a four-day gathering under the theme "Pulse of the Image, Echo of the Future."
Kuwait Radio was awarded second prize in the documentary programs category for its production "Muntasaf al-Tariq" (Halfway). Meanwhile, Kuwait Television secured second place in the children and family programs category with "Sirr al-Yawm" (Secret of the Day). These recognitions highlight Kuwait’s growing contributions to Arab media and broadcasting.
The festival featured an artistic performance showcasing Arab talent, including Kuwaiti singer Abdullah Tariq and performers from Palestine, Oman, Sudan, Egypt, and Algeria. Beyond the awards, the event incorporated a media technology exhibition and a program market in Hammamet. Professional seminars were conducted on topics such as artificial intelligence, podcasting, and tourism media, reflecting the sector’s evolving technological landscape.
In addition to the festival activities, the 115th meeting of the ASBU Executive Council took place concurrently, chaired by Saudi Arabia. Discussions focused on enhancing news and program exchanges among member states, advancing the adoption of cloud technologies, and promoting co-productions across the Arab broadcasting sector.
The festival also honored notable figures in Arab culture, including Kuwaiti actor Mohammed Al-Mansour, underscoring the event’s role in celebrating and fostering regional media and cultural achievements.
