Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has opened applications for 30 diplomatic and consular attaché positions, inviting qualified Kuwaiti nationals to apply between November 15 and December 15, 2026. The recruitment drive targets candidates with bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees in political science, international relations, economics, law, media, and related fields, in accordance with Article 18 of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps Law.
Applicants must be Kuwaiti nationals with full civil capacity, good conduct, and no criminal record involving felony or offenses of moral turpitude unless rehabilitated. Additionally, candidates must not have been dismissed from public service and cannot be married to non-Arab nationals. Health standards commensurate with diplomatic service are also required.
Age restrictions vary by academic qualification: candidates with bachelor’s degrees must be no older than 24 years, master’s degree holders up to 26 years, and doctoral graduates up to 28 years. Degrees must be from Kuwait University or institutions recognized and accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, with a minimum grade of “Very Good,” equivalent to 80 percent or a 2.67 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Postgraduate degrees must align with the candidate’s undergraduate field or other specified disciplines.
Proficiency in English is mandatory, with minimum scores set at 6.0 on IELTS (Academic or General Training), 67 on TOEFL iBT, or 543 on the local TOEFL ITP. Test results must be current, dated within two years prior to application.
Candidates will undergo a selection process that includes a written examination, scheduled for January 16, 2027, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Sharq, followed by oral assessments and personal interviews for those achieving at least 75 percent on the written test. Successful applicants will be ranked by combined scores, with ties broken by graduation date and age.
Selected individuals will enter a 12-month training program at the Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Diplomatic Institute, requiring a minimum passing score of 70 percent. Trainees will receive a monthly stipend of 900 Kuwaiti dinars during this period but will not be officially employed by the ministry until training completion and approval by the Diplomatic and Consular Corps Council. Appointments as diplomatic or consular attachés will be formalized by ministerial decree.
Applications must be submitted online via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official portal, accompanied by several documents, including nationality certificates, civil IDs, birth certificates, marital status certificates, social security records, academic transcripts, degree equivalency certificates if applicable, and a recent photograph.
Further details regarding the oral examinations will be announced after the written test results are finalized.
